NGO commends Igbo leader for promoting peace in Ondo

Akure – The Forum of Civil Society of Nigeria, an NGO, has commended the Eze Ndigbo of Ondo State, Sir Gregory Iloehika, for promoting peaceful coexistence among Igbos and other residents in the state. The Chairman of the forum, Prince Richards Adebayo, gave the commendation during a ceremony to mark the Leadership Award bestowed on Iloehika by the NGO in Akure on Tuesday. Adebayo said that the award was based on merit and in recognition of the leadership qualities of the Igbo leader as a businessman and an individual. He said that Iloehika had worked assiduously for the peace and unity of the Igbo people and their host communities. “Sir Iloehika is humble, God fearing and a great man of peace. The Eze is always at the fore front of agitation for prosperity among all the classes of residents in Ondo State. “He has employed practical wisdom and understanding in his dealings with all classes of people, especially his bosom friend, the Deji of Akure, Oba Kola Aladetoyinbo, and the state government, headed by the amiable governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko,’’ he said. Iloehika thanked the forum for the recognition and promised to continue to work with traditional rulers in the state and the state government to promote peace and unity among the residents. “I am humbled by this recognition and award. “I can assure you that rather than getting carried away by the beauty and prestige of the award, it will only spur me to work harder for the unity and progress of the residents of the state. “My gratitude also goes to the Deji of Akure, who has shown a lot of understanding and fatherly tolerance to all residents of the state. “I can only wish him well and pray for a blessed long age for the great father,’’ he said.
